It is time I share my horrible secret with you. By day I run this wonderful Dad Blog which has changed millions and millions of Dad’s lives for the better – but at night I have been living a nightmare. You see, my family was completely dysfunctional.
Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures
To save my family life, I first did what any Dad would do – watched Oprah 24/7. I did cry a great deal – but I was still not the Dad I wanted to be. I had hit rock bottom and knew I had to do something drastic – it was time to eat soup!
Exclusive Video of How Campbell’s Soup Made Me A Better Dad
I tear up just watching this video, who knew family life could be like this – I suggest you have some tissues on hand…
What In The World Are We Really Talking About?
Simple, Campbell’s soup offered to provide free babysitting for a year if we did that video… not true, just kidding (but would be nice – hint, hint). Seriously, Campbell’s Soup has teamed up with the folks at All Pro Dad to try to encourage guys to be better Dads by making some simple changes in their lives.
Why Post on the Campbell’s Chunky Soup All Pro Dad Promotion?
I have to say, when Campbell’s approached us with writing about their promotion, we were hesitant. This smelled like one of those deals where a company just throws the word “Dad” into their marketing campaign and then expects to get free press on all the Dad blogs. However, as we read more about the All Pro Dad organization we were impressed.
What is All Pro Dad?
All Pro Dad was launched in 1997 with the help of Tony Dungy (Superbowl Champion Coach of the Indianapolis Colts). All Pro Dad is built on a football theme and features over 50 NFL players and coaches who work to give men the resources they need to become better fathers.
I have to say I am all for any organization which strives to help men be better Dads. Some will find fault with having to use the stereotype of “guys only understand football” to teach them how to be better Dads – but the intention is good, and let’s be honest, most guys do love football.
How Campbell’s Chunky Soup Fits Into All This
All Pro Dad has a list of the Top 10 Ways to be a better Dad, but I guess Campbell’s decided it was better to take baby steps and start with just 2 tips for being a better Dad. Campbell’s created the All Pro Dad Pledge –
They simply ask Dad’s to take a Pledge to do these 2 things –
- Eat a wholesome dinner with their family
- Do something active with their kids
Yes, Campbell’s is obviously looking to sell some soup with this promotion, but as big brands will always advertise, better they do it in a way that promotes positive organizations like All Pro Dad.
Being a Better Dad Not Enough? Fine, What About Superbowl Tickets?
You would hope that being a better Dad would be enough motivation to take the pledge – but I guess Campbell’s felt they needed to sweeten the pot a little. So, if you go to their FaceBook Page and take the Pledge, you will be entered in a sweepstakes to win a family trip to the Super Bowl.
Soup For You! And a Book Too!
You know how at the Deli you can get a soup and a sandwich lunch special…well screw that – we are raising the roof and doing a soup and a book special! Now, if you will excuse me, I need to have a physically active dinner and make a wholesome kid… wait maybe I have that backwards – time to read that Pledge again.
