Review: mPULSE GO and mPULSE Rock, Cut The Wires And Let The Music Play

Have you ever met someone who said, “Man, I wish there was a way to have more wires in my life?”  Me neither.  Everyone loves the idea of wireless headphones and speakers, but the catch is often the steep price tag to go wireless.  Now a company called mWorks! is looking to bring wireless, Bluetooth, high quality, well designed speakers and headphones to the masses with affordable prices.

The mPULSE Rock, Light Headphones With Big Features

The mPULSE Rock Headphones use Bluetooth 4.0 to wirelessly connect to any bluetooth device.  While a video review can not “show” you the sound quality of the mPULSE Rock, it is helpful to go over the features and design.

Let’s Take a Look At Our Video Review of the mPULSE ROCK Headphones -

The Low Down on The mPULSE ROCK Headphones

As you can see from the video, The Rock headphones have an expensive look, but thankfully just a $99 price tag.  The obvious comparison will be to the Dr Dre Beats headphones, which can easily cost three times as much.  While we have not had a chance to do hands on testing with the Beats headphones, the mPULSE Rock have some impressive features -Bluetooth 4.0, Touch Controls, Adaptive Base, Ergonomic Design and A Great Selection of Colors.  Here are the main features –

  • Bluetooth v4.0 (Newest Version of Bluetooth, Low Power)
  • Long Battery Life and Low Drain on Phone Battery
  • Built In Mic, Can Be Used As Wireless Headset For Phone
  • Adaptive Bass and impeccable Sound
  • Touch Control
  • 5EQ  preset
  • Foldable for portability

The mPULSE Rock Look and Sound Great,  But They Can Be a Bit Touchy

We found the sound quality to be rich and strong with the mPULSE Rock.  The touch controls and Bluetooth sync can be a little touchy.  At times we were just trying to adjust the headphones over our ears and accidentally skipped forward a track or changed the volume.  We also had some issues where the headphones would lose sync with our phone, not sure if that was an issue with our phone or the headphones.

Overall, the mPULSE Rock worked well and felt very comfortable on our ears.  The Bluetooth 4.0 means much less recharging and more time just relaxing and listening to your tunes!

Share Your Tunes With Friends With the mPULSE GO

Got some playlists that are so awesome that you really need to share your tunes with everyone around you?  Then you need to go with the mPULSE GO wireless portable speaker.  The mPULSE GO is a battery operated bluetooth wireless speaker that also amplifies non-bluetooth devices via a standard 3.5mm Aux jack.

Let’s Take a Quick Look at the mPULSE GO from mWorks! -

The mPULSE Go, Big Features in a Small Package

While the mPULSE GO delivers big sound, the unit itself is very small and compact.  In many ways it looks like the much more expensive Jawbone Jambox, but at only $79 it is about $100 less than the Jambox.  We can not do a direct comparison, since we have not reviewed the Jambox, but we were impressed with the sound and power of the GO.  Here are the main specs –

  • Bluetooth Stereo Speaker (uses the older 2.1, not the low power 4.0)
  • Up to 10 hours of playtime
  • DSP- Echo Cancellation – A2DP – HSP
  • Listen to your favorite music and make calls directly from this mPULSE ™ GO Speaker
  • 6W Sound to amplify a backyard party or just a living room decoration with the convenience to    listen to your favorite tunes.
  • 3.5mm Input for non-Bluetooth devices
  • Sleek Simple Design – Flat Grill
  • Available in different colors

We had a blast with the mPULSE Go, it is small and lightweight and very easy to throw in a bag and take with you where ever you go.  I could see using this on family trips – it is very small and light and servers double duty as a high quality speaker and a speaker phone.  It would be great if it was Bluetooth 4.0, but it still gets about 10 hours of power on a single charge.  Finally, at $79, it is also lightweight on the wallet!

Why Is It Called mWorks! It Should be mPlay!

The mPULSE Go and mPULSE Rock are made by a company called mWorks!  As they make fun devices that allow you to play your music without wires, I vote to rename the company mPlay! Both gadgets are available exclusively from Mobileistic and very reasonably priced.  Between the two products, the mPULSE GO was our favorite, but it really depends on your needs.  Both products deliver high quality audio, in well designed products, at reasonable prices.

Regardless of which mPULSE product you prefer, there is one thing we can all agree on – the world needs less wires!
