Acer Iconia W510 Tablet, For Shooting Video, It’s Got The Right Stuff

Just a year ago, if you said tablet, you really meant iPad.  Basically, if you were in the market for a high quality tablet you had two choices – a white iPad or a black iPad.  Now in 2013, things have changed with the introduction of high quality Android and Windows 8 tablets.  As we discussed in our post on the Intel based Acer Iconia W510 Win8 tablet, the new breed of Windows 8 tablets have some clear advantages over the iPad.  Today we wanted to pull the curtain back on how we create videos here at Dad Does and show why the Acer W510 is a great tablet for creating videos.

If You’re Playing At Madison Square Garden, You Need to Bring The Right Equipment

Recently we were lucky enough to play basketball at Madison Square Garden and as a life long Knicks fan, this was a once in a lifetime experience.  Of course we wanted to capture video of the day, so we had some choices of what equipment to use.  Please watch this video on why we choose the Acer W510 to shoot video at MSG…

The Features That Make the Acer W510 Tablet Shine For Video Work

As discussed in the video, there are a few key features which make the Acer W510 a great tablet for shooting video –

  • Large 10.1″ Screen Makes It Easy To Follow The Action
  • HD Video
  • Quick Autofocus
  • Long Battery Life
  • HDMI Port To Easily View Your Footage on Your LCD TV
  • SD Card Slot To Easily Move Videos Off The Tablet

It was those last 2 features, the HDMI and SD Card slot that pushed us to go with the Acer W510 over the Apple iPad for this project.

Conclusion: The Acer W510 Is Not Only A Solid Tablet, But Also A Highly Capable Videocamera

The Acer Iconia W510 Intel Based Windows 8 Tablet is a very well designed tablet with enough additional features to differentiate it from the Apple iPad.  For doing video work, we found the 10″ screen, HDMI out and SD Card slot incredibly helpful features that made the task of shooting, watching and editing video much easier.  Now if only there was a button on the Acer W510 that would have made me hit every jump shot, then it would have been perfect!
