Over the past few years we have reviewed our fair share of electric scooters geared towards kids. The E-Scooters from Razor are great for kids, but what about us big kids? Wouldn’t it be great if there was an e-scooter for adults that was eco-friendly, fun to ride, fast and could go 15-20 miles on one charge? Say hello to the EcoReco M5 Electric Scooter!

500 Miles on $1 of Electricity, Now You’re Talking My Language
Casually mention an electric scooter to someone and their first thought is “fun outdoor toy for kids”. However, throw out the fact that the EcoReco M5 Electric Scooter goes 500 Miles on $1 of electricity, or what would be equivalent to 2,000 MPG and now you have their attention.
The EcoReco M5 is a very green and environmentally friendly solution to that last leg of your commute. Maybe your office is 7 miles from the train station, just hop on the M5 when you get off the train and finish your commute while emitting no CO2.
The EcoReco In Not Cheap In Price or Quality

The only downside to all this quality? It does not come cheap, the EcoReco M5 sells for $1,250.
80% Charge In 2 Hours Is The Killer Feature
There is a lot to like about the EcoReco M5 but the one feature that pushes it to another level is the quick charge capability. In 2 hours you can charge a dead battery to 80% full (4.5 hours for a full charge).
This means you could ride to a restaurant that is 10 miles aways, charge it while you are eating and have plenty of power to get home. Ride it to your work and just plug it in a few hours before you leave. The ability to get an 80% charge in 2 hours really opens up a lot more possible personal transportation uses for this scooter.
What Could Make the M5 Better? Less Weight
As we say in the video review, we loved riding the M5 and feel great about the green aspect of an all electric scooter. The M5 is comfortable to ride, is fast and has a very admirable 10-15 mile (our real world testing) range. The only real negative to the M5 is the weight.
36 pounds for an electric scooter that can go about 15 miles on a single charge is very impressive given today’s battery technology. The more range you want, the heavier the battery. Still, 36 pounds is pretty heavy. Walking around a store, doing shopping or riding the subway are all pretty exhausting if you are lugging around 36 pounds.
The M5 works great if you want to throw it in your car trunk, bring it into your office or carry up a single flight of stairs. Any more than that and you feel the weight. If we could waive a magic wand and change one thing, it would be to find a way to knock 10-15 pounds off the scooter.
The M5 Provides A Great Solution for Your Short Commutes
If you find that you jump in your car to do a number of 5-15 mile trips, the M5 EcoReco could be just the scooter you have always wanted. Amazingly you will do over 33 rides of 15 miles each, before you pay $1 in electricity. Compare this to your car – $3 for a gallon of gas, figure 20 MPG – that is a cost of $75 to go the same 500 miles.
Many commuters have a first and last mile problem. They take the train to work, but need to drive a few miles to the train station and then a few miles from the train station to work. The M5 provides a great solution to this problem. Scoot to the train station, fold up the M5 and then when you get off the train, unfold and scoot those last few miles to the office.
While the M5 is not an inexpensive scooter, the more you use it in place of your car, the more you save and the less expensive it feels. You are also scooting around the city on a fun to ride vehicle that emits no pollution or greenhouse gases…and that just puts a smile on your face!
The EcoReco M5 Electric Scooter Retails for $1,250.
