Remote controls? We don’t need no stinkin’ remotes!
That would be my opening line if I were directing an Air Hogs commercial about the new and improved Air Hogs Vectron Wave 2.0. Alas, we don’t do commercials here, we do reviews…so let’s stick to reviewing stuff!
Please watch our video review of the new Air Hogs Vectron Wave 2.0 -
Hey UFO, How About You Float Above My Hand
The Air Hogs Vectron Wave is one of those simple toys that really does not need much more description beyond what the video shows. Turn it on, it hovers. Place your hand, or elbow, of foot or scared to death cat (you get the idea) under it and it hovers higher. Grab the stick on top, toss it around like a flying air hockey puck. Recharge and repeat.
If you like flowery marketing speak, here is some more information on the Vectron Wave 2.0 –
“The Air Hogs Vectron Wave is a hovering UFO (Unbelievable Flying Object) without a remote control: your hand is the controller! You command its flight with just a wave of your hand, or more advanced moves like using your feet, knees and even shoulders. Also, use the catch sticks to toss it with a friend. Air Hogs Vectron Wave uses smart Wave Control TM altitude sensing technology to rise up and glide above obstacles. The Air Hogs Vectron Wave is the UFO you control!”
Wait, Haven’t I Seen A Vectron Wave Before?
Yes, yes you have. A few years back Air Hogs introduced a Vectron Wave, but this is the new improved 2.0 version. One key difference is the LED lights on this Vectron Wave 2.0. It was hard to pick up in the video, but the UFO looks very cool in a dark room. We could see this making the Vectron Wave a popular toy at sleepovers.
It also seems as if the stability and control of the Vectron Wave have been improved. When you fling the Vectron Wave across the room, it tends to do a good job of stabilizing. You will still have some crashes, but it definitely feels like the altitude sensing technology has been improved.
Keep That Recharger Pack Close By
The Air Hogs Vectron Wave 2.0 is a simple and fun flying toy that even a klutz like me can fully operate. No need to be an RC expert or have any real patience when it comes to playing with the Vectron Wave – just turn it on and let the flying fun begin! Where you will need patience is with the recharging. We only got about 4-5 minutes of play time and then we had to recharge, which takes about 20 minutes.
In the end, if you have kids who like flying toys, but don’t love learning the skills to pilot an RC toy, the new Air Hogs Vectron Wave 2.0 will be a flying hit in your house!
