Lenovo U530

Remember computers and laptops?  Yep, those quaint devices we used to use, back in the prehistoric days before the advent of tablets and smartphones.  Kids, ask your parents, they can tell you stories of these devices.  Guess what?  It turns out the reports of the death of laptops and computers has been greatly exaggerated. Side note, Mark Twain is dead, so reports of his death are actually quite accurate.

How do we really know the PC laptop is still very much alive?  We have just spent a few weeks with the Lenovo ideaPad U530 Touch Ultrabook.  At just over 5 pounds and less than 1″ thick, this Windows 8.1 machine gives you a powerful experience in a lightweight and attractive package.

Lenovo Showing Apple Is Not The Only Computer Company With Awesome Design Chops

Lenovo, more than any other PC maker, has been showing the world that the PC is not dead, it has just evolved.  Like running your fingers all over your tablet?  Lenovo let’s you do the same thing on your notebook.  Want your laptop to turn on as fast as a tablet?  The U530 uses a SSD drive for very fast boot up times.  More battery life, less weight….yep, you get all that with the U530 Touch.

All of the above would be fine if people just cared about features and tech specs in their laptops.  As Apple has shown, people see their computers as fashion statements – it doesn’t just need to compute, it needs to look good doing it!  As we show in the video, the Lenovo U530 Touch could easily be mistaken for a MacBook Pro.  The U530 Touch is beautifully designed, thin, lightweight and proof that Apple is not the only computer company with strong design chops.

The Lenovo U530 Touch Provides Plenty of Power For An Affordable Price

The Lenovo U530 starts at about $780, which is a great price point for a full featured Windows 8.1 laptop.  If you are an intense gamer or doing very advanced video and photo editing, you may need to go with a more powerful machine.  If you want a laptop that can do yoga and convert into a tablet, you want to go with the Lenovo Yoga line.  For everyone else, the Lenovo U530 Touch is an excellent choice. In our testing, we loved the long battery life, touch screen, HDMI output, powered USB jack…all in a beautiful designed and lightweight case.
