MiP Review: The Self Balancing Robot That Has More Personality Than Your Pet

MiP Robot

MiP Robot

Yeah, I am sure your dog or cat is very cute.  Groover may have a great personality as well, but come on, for the most part he just sits there waiting for you to drop your food.  On the other hand, MiP from WowWee toys – now that is a friend with some personality.  MiP is the robot friend that can dance, speak, listen, change moods, battle, play games, roam freely, oh and did we mention that he does all this while balancing on two wheels?  Put Groover on roller skates, make him stand on his hind legs and see how long he lasts!

Meet MiP Your New Robot Friend

We got our first look at MiP at CES 2014.  We saw an impressive demo of MiP balancing, dancing and playing games – but it was just a demo.  We have now had the chance to spend some time with a production model of MiP.  Please watch our full video review of MiP The Self Balancing Robot -

MiP, The Toy For Kids of All Age

MiP is one of those wonderful toys that is perfect for a 10 year old…or  a 50 year old.  Kids will be battling their Dads to see who gets to play with MiP.  Of course, as we show in the video, if you get 2 MiPs you can box and battle.

Here is a quick breakdown on the features of the MiP Robot -

It’s the year of the MiP™. Perched atop unique dual wheels, this multifunctional and autonomous robot is more than just a toy. Powered by an iOS or Android smartphone, your eyes will light up at what MiP™ can do.

Thanks to our innovative equipment, MiP™ responds to motions, be it your hand or an object. Effortless navigation, MiP™ is always trying to please!

Your new buddy likes to have fun, and invites you to join. Show some praise, and MiP™ will be your new best friend, but push it down, and you’re in for an angry robot!

Not only does MiP™ offer tons of gameplay fun, but there’s also an app that enables you to drive, dance, battle, balance, and so much more.

The Many Modes of MiP

The thing that you immediately notice about MiP – he has a ton of features.  There are six different modes of MiP – Tracking, Dance, Roam, Tricks, Cage and Game.  Then when you load up the free app on your Android or iOS devices, you get tons of more options.  Mini-games, battles, drive mode and the list goes on.  The crazy thing is – this is just the beginning for MiP.  More games and modes will be added to the app over time, so MiP will grow with even more personality and features.

Did We Mention – MiP Self Balances – How Cool Is That?

All the features, games and modes would be great with any toy robot, but the fact that MiP does them all while balancing on two wheels…that is pretty awesome.  MiP actually stands for Motion Inverted Pendulum, because, well – that is what he is.  We loved stacking things on MiP and seeing if we could make him topple over.  After a certain amount of weight, MiP will take a dive, but you can stack a good amount before MiP falls.

Overall, MiP is an awesome toy robot that will only get better as more games are pushed to the app.  MiP sells for $119  (includes free shipping) – get one for the kids, then play with it all night when they go to bed.
